Ingolstadt (electoral district)

Ingolstadt is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of forty five districts in Bavaria, it covers the town of Ingolstadt, the district of Eichstätt and the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district with the exception of the town of Aresing.〔(Constituency boundaries ), bundeswahlleiter.de, accessed 24 March 2014〕
The constituency was created for the 1949 election, the first election in West Germany after World War II. With the exception of the first election in 1949, which was won by the Bavaria Party, all elections in the district have been won by the Christian Social Union (CSU). The current representative is Reinhard Brandl of the CSU.〔(Brandl setzt sich deutlich durch ), Augsburger Allgemeine, 23 September 2013〕
